Short bio
From the beginning of my studies in the early 2000s, I found myself fascinated by the collaborative aspect of hacker culture. Hence I got into FLOSS and became part of the Debian GNU/Linux community. I completed a bachelor’s in Computer Science and worked as GNU/Linux instructor at the university, as well with governments, NGOs, and law enforcement. I co-authored a technical book on combating human rights violations on the Internet, which turned out to be a guide for Brazilian authorities.
In 2008 I was invited to work in a parliamentary committee investigating online crimes committed against minors, which ended with important regulatory changes in the country.
In 2011, I moved abroad and started studying… music! I completed a major, then a bachelor’s and a master’s in Composition & Music Technology (check my thesis if you’re interested in AI+FLOSS+Music!). Since then, I’ve been working with makerspaces and artists, offering technical assistance and consulting.
Finally, I am an enthusiastic student of Vipassana meditation, which supports me in cultivating an open mindset and being truly present in the adventures I embark on.
Open(-ish) to work
Although I currently have a job, I can also take on freelance contracts involving software development, system administration, IoT, custom fabrication (3d printing, laser cutting, basic electronics, etc), and many sorts of Linux-related tasks. I value and take on projects of any scale, especially those contributing to positive social changes, one way or another.
I also support – either voluntarily or for a small fee – local collectives with technical expertise by managing Linux servers, websites, mailing lists, and occasionally making software.
